Steerhead Arena

In the winter of 2008, shortly after Jenny completed a little bout with melanoma, we decided to sell our ranch at Dunning, NE. We made the decision for alot of reasons - economical, financial, etc. but mostly because we felt this was our opportunity to pursue what we truly love and still continue to have the best of both worlds in the cattle business and ranching as well as with our horses.
This arena is a horse lover's dream and what better way to promote what we love than to literally live it. And that is what we intend to do. The unfinished space above the concession area is just the right size for our small family, and we will soon be completing it and hanging our hat right there at Steerhead Arena.
The indoor arena measures 136' x 275' with 15 permanent horse stalls equipped with automatic waters and feed racks, and these stalls also have doors that lead to outdoor runs. There are 20 other stalls as well. There is a tack room, and office, concession stand (kitchen), mens/womens restrooms with showers. Upstairs is an annoucing stand with stereo equipment and sound system.
Outside is a gorgeous pipe round pen, holding pens, sorting alleys, and an outdoor arena complete with an enclosed announcers stand, priefert chute, and efficient return alley system.
We are a private facility offering many public services and plan on carefully developing a program for the public that includes many things such as practices, ropings, ranch rodeos, working cow events, cuttings, barrel racings, clinics, horse shows, boarding and horse care, shoeing and vet services, and much much more. We recognize the options are unlimited and really feel "the sky is the limit".
We will continue to train and ride our own horses and sell a few when they are ready, and ride them not only inside, but in the hills as well - just as we did before. Not only will our horses have the benefit of being exposed to brandings, pairing out, gathering and sorting, but also the full use of an indoor, heated barn 24/7 for whatever else we can imagine during those miserable days of Nebraska winter time. From roping to ranch work and everything in between, we will be able to cover a broad spectrum to make a more well rounded equine.
